Product Description

High school romance is difficult enough to navigate when both people are human. But for 17-year-old Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart, INTO THE WILD) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE), Edward's life as a vampire complicates things even more. At first, when Bella moves from sunny Phoenix to the rainiest corner of Washington State, she isn't sure where she fits in at her new high school. Then she meets Edward, an ethereal beauty of a boy whose unnatural speed and strength lead Bella to the conclusion that her new crush is one of the undead. Suddenly, Bella's boring life is transformed; she's surrounded by love and danger in equal parts, thanks to the hunger of Edward and others of his kind. TWILIGHT is based on the first book in the addictive series by author Stephenie Meyer. Director Catherine Hardwicke (THIRTEEN) certainly knows her audience, which is primarily the teenage girls who worship the book and its characters. There are plenty of swoonworthy shots of Pattinson's perfectly pale Edward, and his romance with Stewart's nicely acted Bella will cause many a sigh among the devoted fans. While TWILIGHT is primarily a love story in the ROMEO AND JULIET mold, there's also plenty of action and horror to be found. Blood flows (this is a vampire movie, after all), but the small amount of gore shouldn't be too much for the squeamish viewers--and it might even draw a boy or two to the screen. The film's record-breaking box office take alone is proof that the film's appeal isn't limited to screaming teen girls.

I bought this movie as my first Blu-ray movie after recently purchasing a new player since this is one of my favorite movies. The blu-ray version of this movie is filled with things that are not noticable in the original version and it makes it that much more AMAZING to watch! The colors are more vibrant and the textures add so much more to the movie than I ever would have though possible. If you love this movie you should definitly purchase this DVD in blu-ray! Worth every penny!

My daughter made me go to this movie in the theatre. As usual, she has very good taste. I greatly enjoyed the film. Because it is a movie about vampires, one might expect blood & gore. However, except for the climactic action scene, there is very little carnage. Instead, "Twilight" is a romance. Kristen Stewart who played Jody Foster's daughter in "Panic Room" plays Bella Swan who comes to the overcast town in Washington to live with her father. Robert Pattinson played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Widescreen Edition) (Harry Potter 4). In "Twilight," he's the leading romantic character Edward Cullen. His struggle is internal as he finds himself falling in love with Bella, if he can just resist the urge to kill her. The two fathers are also pivotal characters in the film. Bella's dad Charlie is a local policeman. Billy Burke who was in Fracture (Widescreen Edition) with Anthony Hopkins really gives a marvelous performance as the single dad who cares about his daughter, but is a bit awkward and unpracticed at being a father. Edward's dad is Dr. Carlisle Cullen, a physician whose good looks and pale complexion give him an air of calm mystery. Peter Facinelli who played Takmet in "The Scorpion King" plays the role sympathetically. Also a standout is Jasper, the newest recruit to the family. In his brief appearances, his desire to eat the humans is barely contained and looks like hostility. Jackson Rathbone who will be in "The Last Airbender" turns in a minimalist performance that works with his good looks. The villains in the piece are a trio of hungry vampires whose dinner leftovers are attributed as kills by animals. Rachelle Lefevre who appeared on TV's "Charmed" plays Victoria, the fur-wearing wild woman of the group. Kenyan-born actor Edi Gathegi plays Laurent, the most reasonable of the trio. He played Dr. Jeffrey Cole on TV's "House." Making a savage impression is Cam Gigandet as James, the tracker vampire who stalks Bella relentlessly like a cat wanting to play with its food. Gigandet played the bully Ryan McCarthy in "Never Back Down" & uses similar aggression in this film. I enjoyed "Twilight" because of the unrequited romance between Bella & Edward. The kiss that takes forever to culminate throbs with emotion all the more because of its restraint. I purchased the single disc version as a used copy and am glad to be able to pop it in the DVD player. Enjoy!

This is a great movie. It is not your typical vampire movie. I love it and can't wait for the sequel. You also must read the series!

The movie was great... not as good as the book, but I liked it though. They picked the perfect cast loved everyone in it. Alice is my fav.... but you know she is so chipper. I wish they they would had done a better job with keeping there personalities like the book, but all in all it was really good...

I have read the book and saw this movie and felt a little disappointing because a lot of the things in the book were not included. Yes, I do know that the movie can only be a couple of hours because people lose interest if too long, yet if you did not read the book it will be great. It is a romantic movie all the way even though there is some action at the end but it's not a lot or as much as a guy would like to. I would recommend it if you like romance.

I loved the books and I love the movie. It doesn't follow the books completely but to me it really enhanced the story. I've seen many movies with far bigger budgets and more big name stars that were far less watchable. I enjoyed Kristen Stewart's and Rob Pattinson's Bella and Edward performances and the rest of the cast is great too. Even my husband who is not really a fan said it was more entertaining than he expected it to be. There are so many nonfans out there who love to get on their soapbox but its a good story with an interesting plot which, let me remind everyone, was written for teenage girls not the intellectual masses who love to gripe. I personally would rather watch this movie 17 times than to sleep through another Harry Potter.

This movie was sureme in all the animation . I think it is one of the best vampire movies ever made. To make this a true love story will cath the eye of all the tenns around. i was surprised that i as a parent really got into the movie the way i did. It really left me waiting to see what happens in the next one> it is about time a vamp movie was made that it was not all about killing gore and blood . A true movie of love heartache and romance for people af all ages
Good movie, excellent photography

The movie is really good , but the photography is even better. The nature of Oregon (in the movie is Washington State) is beautiful. It is a vampire romance with a little bit of mystery. I have both version and the blu-ray version is a lot better (the quality is really superior!).

I was very pleased with my purchase. I received emails leading up to when I got the DVD just letting me know that it had been shipped and everything. The DVD is in immaculate condition, which I was pleasantly surprised about. My husband is an optimist especially when it comes to ordering used DVDs but he had no complaints about this one. This is how all sales should be done!

Really Grew on Me...

Review Date: November 5, 2009
Reviewer: David Foughty,
To preface this review, I read all four Twilight books in one weekend (last weekend, actually) when I picked the first one up at the airport, and could not put it down. I zipped through the other three and went to the midnight screening on opening day. To say the least, I was captivated by Twilight (and I'm in my 20s...).

I was anxious to see the movie because, like so many other people, I felt really invested in Bella and Edward's story. Not only that, but I love the vampire premise - it just never gets old, especially when you put a new spin on it, as Meyer did in her books. The events of each book really ran together for me, so in a way, I felt like a non-Twilighter coming into this film. I really didn't care if the movie deviated from the book - in fact, I was kind of hoping it would, since you can't expect a book to translate directly to the screen. I heard a lot of serious Twilight teens complaining about "major things" missing when I left the theater, but I honestly didn't notice any major omissions.

Overall, the film was better than I expected (based on previews, I expected it to be extremely cheesy, low-budget, and awkwardly filmed). It definitely grew on me as it went on, especially Pattinson's performance. His introduction was extremely awkward - not sure if that was Hardwicke's fault or Pattinson's acting. In any case, as soon as he settled into his character, he was absolutely captivating. Stewart plays a great brooder, and she certainly did that here. I loved the scenes with her father; in my opinion, these were some of the gems of the movie.

The romance between Edward and Bella, which was obviously the crux of the film, was fueled by their chemistry, but not much else. Where was the development?! I really wish Hardwicke or the screenwriter or somebody had taken more time to delve into the roots of their relationship. It all just happened way too fast. I feel like this happened because of the James story, which to me was almost completely unnecessary (yeah, I know, it's a big part of the book and obviously needs to be here). But even so, the film would have been a more moving romance, and probably a more poignant, emotional film, if that cheesy, goofy subplot hadn't existed.

Hardwicke dealt exceptionally well with teen angst, which was evident in the high school shots. Unfortunately, she really struggled with the vampire side of things. I have to put most of the blame on the director because the characters were all spot-on, very well-acted and well-cast. I also think a higher budget would have done wonders for this movie, and I'm hoping that becomes a reality for the sequel. The special effects were embarrassingly bad, and nearly ruined the movie.

Overall, I enjoyed "Twilight" for what it was - a romance that probed the timeless dilemma of wanting what you can't have (and despite Meyer's Mormon beliefs, this whole series is basically a metaphor for sex). It makes for an interesting, compelling story, and I expect more from the sequels, because the potential is certainly there.

I have seen the movie myself and enjoyed it very much. To me it is a Vampire love Show which I as well as My Daughter liked very well. Its really not a movie for guys my Daughter calls it a chick flick. But any one with a bit of romance in their heart will enjoy it,My boy freind said it needed to be a little more upbeat and action since it had vampires in it and they seemed more like a family than Vampires. But over all it was a great movie on my end I hear everyone likes Elliot the best.
