Beautiful pictures and fun information

I bought this book for my sister's birthday but had to read it before giving it to her. She forgave me! I loved the beautiful pictures and really enjoyed reading about all of the behind the scenes information. The first part of the book was a little bit dry for me, I know film students will appreciate it, but I got a bit lost in all of the technical movie terms.

I loved the interviews with the actors, wish there could have been more. And, ok I'm a girl, I loved reading about the choices they had to make for wardrobe and hair and makeup and all that fun stuff. They talk about how Bella's hair goes from romantic curls, to unkempt mess, then to a more natural look. I also liked reading about how they made Jacob transform from the school boy look to a more mature hard look. They actually put eyeliner on him and used makeup to contoure his cheeks and jaw line.

It was interesting to read how this new director wanted to make the film warmer than the first because Jacob is Bella's sun, and how he had to completely redo the color pallet. No more blue overcast to everything, instead he wanted a warmer golden tone. I like it!

My favorite part was reading how they filmed the whole cliff diving scene. Gave me new respect for Kristen and what she had to do for her part. I think it would be pretty cool to be an actor, aside from the crazy fans.
Beautiful book

Reviewer: K. Garren,
This is a gorgeous book loaded with tons of information on the upcoming film. Some may be a little disappointed considering countless fan sites have revealed most, if not all, of the pictures included, but it's still worth the very reasonable price. Very informative and lot's of personal quotes from all the main actors. An all around beautiful book that will have you salivating for the movie!

Also, you'll understand what I mean when you see it, but did anyone besides me look at the picture on page 125 and imagine Edward saying, "Ouch."
An Awesome Movie Companion Book

This is the second Twilight Series Movie Companion book written by Mark Cotta Vaz and you will not be disappointed. He artfully sumarizes the plot of New Moon with great photograghs and interviews with cast members and movie makers alike. The book details production challenges, like the transition from filming in Portland to Vancouver, and approaches to filming like using color schemes to sent tone. If you want a behind the scenes look at the New Moon movie, this book is a must have.
Gorgeous

Upon seeing this at a local store the other day, I quickly picked it up and bought it. I had the Twilight Movie Companion and hoped that this would be as good; I think it's even better! This is full of large and beautiful pictures of the cast (ALL of the cast...Cullens, Humans, Volturi, etc). I also loved being able to read about some of the more technical things that went into making the film (color, location, editing, etc).

Throughout, there are even bits from the actors about filming, on set quirks, and relationships. It's great! But what I love most about these companions is how many scenes we get to have teasers of. It's more than just a rehash of the previously released stills; it's packed full of new photos and stories.

Here are chapter breakdowns;

In Twilight Time; Just a couple of pages. It talks a bit about how the Twilight phenom started, and reminds us a little of the filming on the first film and the uncertainty of whether or not "New Moon" would surface.

A New Moon Rises; Some background on New Moon and the early process of drafts, locations, and why they tweaked a few things (namely why they chose to have Edward appear as an illusion instead of just a voice) etc.

Lost Moon; Things like color, camera angles, principal photography, more locations, editing, etc.

Earthbound Sun; A mainly Jacob chapter, with info on stunts, and a bit about the other Native Americans.

Something In The Woods; More about the rest of the pack, also discusses things like their tribal tattoo and creating the wolves in CGI

A Moonless Night; A bit about the Nomads (Laurent and Victoria), the changing of the Cullens looks, some apparition-Edward tied stunts, and creating the sparkles in CGI

The Coldest Ones; Ah, yes, this chapter focuses on the Volturi. Also talks about the filming in Montepulciano, Italy, the fans, sets, etc.

Destiny; More about the process towards the completion of the project. Talks about the final editing and cutting, and feelings they hope to create with the final cut.

Please let me say that there is so much inside each of these chapters and that I just had to condense it greatly to keep each description from running too long! (This book is 141 pages of New Moon goodness)

The entire book is very informative and worth the price. As a fan, it's nice to have these sneak peeks before we get to see the movie. The pictures and information in this book is just enough to quench my thirst (pun intended) and hold me over until November when I finally get to sit in the theater and see the film. Very highly recommended.
A MUST-HAVE FOR TWILIGHT FANS

The New Moon illustrated movie Companion gives us an intimate look at the creation of the film. Written again by Mark Cotta Vaz who gave us the original Twilight companion this one in my opinion is even better. Crammed full of lavish, full color and never before seen photographs (okay, yes most are available on different fan sites but isn't it nice to have them all together here?)

Inside we get; exclusive cast and crew interviews, personal quotes, behind the scenes information and a tour of the film sets. Interviews with the actors and director Chris Weitz, wardrobe, hair and make-up secrets, a technical movie making section (revealing location and color change information as well as editing, special effects etc) We then get answers to questions about costume and set design and learn the secrets to the stunts and how a person can become a werewolf .

At 141 pages this book is a must-have for any fan and once you've looked at the pictures a couple hundred times and stopped drooling at Edwards Italian reveal and all the shirtless, buff werewolves there's actually tons here to read and discover. For example did you know Edward and Bella were plagued by mosquitoes during the break-up scene? And that Edward wears the same suit throughout the movie because he's seen only through Bella's visions and that was the last thing she saw him wearing? (It gets progressively more tattered as the movie progresses) In a really interesting chapter we get to know the history of the Volturi and see some really cool period costumes (hello Carlisle) as well as details of Edward getting beat up by Felix. We hear more about Taylor's fight for the role of Jacob and explore the world of the Quileute which has been totally integrated with the forest except for the scenes within Emily's house. And with my eternal gratitude we learn that there will be "a fresh interpretation" for Edwards sparkle effect.

After devouring this book I now can't decide if it's made the wait until November easier or harder? On one hand it's easier because I have all these gorgeous photos and information to tide me over but on the other it's now harder because I'm even more excited to see the movie.
A must for the saga's fans.

Full page photos and filming process at it's best

Being a huge film buff, I have already invested in many movie companions just like this one only to see behind the scenes filming process and director's commentary. There are so many interesting things you can explore with this book. Each page is filled with photos, and nearly half of them are full page prints, which is beautiful. There are also many comments from the director Chris Weitz, costume designers, camera crew, writer Melissa Rosenberg and much more. It's very in depth, thorough and filled with different details. If you're buying this movie guide only to read about the main actors, don't do it. There are some comments from Robert, Kristen and Taylor, but the main concept of this book is the filming process, setting the movie set, makeup and CG effects, writing and so on.
I was really lucky to buy this movie guide because it's one of the best ones I've read! I rate it 5 stars.
Must have !

Lots of the material, if not all, can be found on fan sites. But who has the time to search it all out? Why not have it in one terrific handy place --- right in your home? I especially enjoyed reading about how the movie was made. Behind-the-scenes stories are always fascinating. The photographs and stories are just amazing. Highly recommended.

This book allows me an inside look at a highly-anticipated movie, with great details about how the movie parallels the book, but also how the movie alters a couple of story elements. I have the companion to Twilight and plan on buying the companions to the other movies if they are available as well
